Seasonal Container Install Technician 

GreenStone Designs is looking for a seasonal exterior plant container installation technician. This position typically starts in April and ends in late October with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. This role's primary responsibility is to perform exterior horticultural container installations at our client’s locations. This includes, but is not limited to; soil prep, planting, watering, grooming, pruning, plant cleaning and identifying pests and /or disease. An ideal candidate would have a passion for gardening and exterior containers, a beautiful environment and a friendly attitude. 

Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Water plants appropriately using hose spigots with irrigation key and/or water tanks as a water source.

  • Attention to detail; must be aware of drainage, accumulated water, foot traffic, surface staining, etc..

  • Responsible for technically correct plant grooming, using sterilized pruners or scissors. 

  • Ability to recognize when to pinch/remove spent/dead flowers or foliage and understand how this action affects plant health and aesthetic beauty. This is especially imperative prior to installing plants into new containers so they have the best ability to thrive upon installation. 

  • Responsible for cleanliness of plant containers and the surrounding area.  Sweeping up and cleaning up mess as the container is planted. Removing all garbage and plant debris, regardless of the cause.

  • Be part of the solution. Ability to recognize and solve problems with minimal direction. 

  • Sound decision making, demonstrating initiative and accountability. 

  • Must be comfortable working independently, as well as with a team, with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach instead of reactive. Understanding the “big picture” and performing accordingly. 

  • Timely reporting of challenges, issues, problems to supervisor or Lead on current jobsite

  • Regular communication to stay current and respond timely when warranted.

  • Other duties as assigned.
