PLANT TECHNICIAN:

The Plant Technician’s primary responsibility is to perform interior and exterior horticultural maintenance for our residential and commercial clients. This includes, but is not limited to; watering, grooming, pruning, plant cleaning and identifying pests and /or disease.

  • Willingness to work in all interior and exterior environmental conditions (weather, air condition, heat, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasional use of 8-10’ ladders.

  • Adaptability to environmental conditions; weather, noise, etc.

EXTERIOR PLANT TECHNICIAN  

This is a seasonal position to start in April and end in late October with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. 

 

The Exterior Plant Technician’s primary responsibility is to perform exterior horticultural maintenance at our client’s locations. This includes, but is not limited to; soil preparation, planting, watering, grooming, pruning, plant cleaning and identifying pests and /or disease.

OUR EXPECTATIONS

  • Exterior plant maintenance experience preferred, but not required for the right candidate.

  • Knowledge of common exterior plant material typically used in this region’s container designs.

  • Curiosity - interested and willing to learn.

  • Water plants appropriately using hose spigots with irrigation key and/or water tanks as a water source.

  • Attention to detail; must be aware of drainage, accumulated water, foot traffic, surface staining, etc..

  • Responsible for consistent, technically correct plant grooming, using sterilized pruners or scissors. 

  • Ability to recognize when to pinch/remove spent/dead flowers or foliage and understand how this action affects plant health and aesthetic beauty.

  • Responsible for cleanliness of plant containers and the surrounding area.  Removing all garbage and plant debris, regardless of the cause.

  • Be part of the solution. Ability to recognize and solve problems with minimal direction. 

  • Sound decision making, demonstrating initiative and accountability. 

  • Must be comfortable working independently, as well as with a team, with minimal supervision.

  • Familiarity with technology; taking pictures, uploading, and data entry for weekly electronic reporting.

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach instead of reactive. Understanding the “big picture” and performing accordingly. 

  • Timely reporting of challenges, issues, problems to supervisor.

  • Reliable transportation and comfortable navigating areas including downtown Seattle and the Eastside.

  • Willingness to work in all exterior environmental conditions.

  • Accessibility. Reliable electronic communication; text, email and phone and regular monitoring to stay current and respond timely when warranted.

  • Patience.
